Educational Perspective

There is a reason for the emphasis on education at Becker Academic, LLC. Put simply, we consider the twin processes of college search and selection to be a proving ground for past academic accomplishment and future progress.

Consequences

If education is understood in the old Latin sense of bringing out or drawing out, then college admission is, truly, an educational experience. The process brings a student’s skills and abilities into a new and different arena, where outcomes have real world consequences. It draws the student into a wider social network and a life of greater autonomy and responsibility. Our position can be summarized in two sentences.

• Looking backward, a good college match demands that students apply fundamental skills and knowledge obtained during their secondary education.
• Looking forward, undergraduate success depends on the same acquired abilities that students use when making good college matches.

These fundamental learned abilities are, in our terms, Key Educational Competencies (KEC). Our services are designed to strengthen the KEC.
